This is so worth reading, Alexandra! I found myself in almost every line. Thank you for this piece, which is, in a way, an eye-opener about a person's relationship with themselves.

Wisdom Library's avatar

Thank you - this really touched me.

The idea that it became an eye-opener about our relationship with ourselves is probably one of the greatest compliments I could receive.

That relationship is at the heart of so much of how we experience life, yet it’s often the one we give the least attention.

I’m really glad you found yourself in the words. Thank you for taking the time to share that. 💛

This is powerful. These internal “soul conversations” are so important to have.

Reading your dialogue reminded me of the types of conversations I would have with clients back when I was coaching. Truly though, if you can make time to sit in stillness and hear your soul’s voice, your spirit and ego can engage in a very beneficial dialogue together.

Very helpful approach. Thank you, Alexandra.

Wisdom Library's avatar

Thank you 🙏

I like how you described that dialogue between spirit and ego… not something to get rid of, but something to understand and work with. That’s often where the real clarity comes from.

And it’s interesting you mention your coaching experience. I think those kinds of conversations, when they’re honest and unhurried, can open something people don’t usually give themselves space to hear.

I’m really glad the approach resonated with you.

What a wonderful post! Oh wow I could resonate with many things here, this made me think about sitting down and really trying this! Thank you for sharing this!

Wisdom Library's avatar

I’m really glad it made you pause like that.

Sometimes it doesn’t take much - just a moment of sitting down and actually listening a bit more closely. It can feel simple, but it often opens something we’ve been moving past for a while.

If you do try it, even just for a few minutes, I’d be curious how it feels for you.

C Simone's avatar

When I try it I will for sure let you know!

Alexandra, I felt that I want to take time to listen to my own voice. 😇

Wisdom Library's avatar

I’m really glad this came up for you.

That simple intention - to take time and listen to your own voice - it sounds small, but it changes something important. It’s often the first step back to yourself.

You don’t have to force anything or figure it all out straight away. Just creating a bit of space to notice what’s there is already enough.

I’m really glad it met you there 😇

Thank you for your kind reply. Lately, I’ve been struggling because I tried to change the direction of my company too quickly, and it led to conflicts with some of my staff. Reading your words has helped me feel a little lighter. I think I’ll take a step back for now, slow down, and give myself some time to think things through. Thank you again. 😇

I have to do this every day read piece.

This is a masterpiece of self-reflection. The shift from demanding more discipline to simply offering ourselves curiosity is so subtle, yet it changes everything.Thank you for this stunning, deeply necessary dialogue.!!

Wisdom Library's avatar

Thank you - this really means a lot.

That shift you mentioned… from discipline to curiosity… it’s so small on the surface, but it changes the tone of everything. The moment you stop pushing and start observing, something softens, and it becomes easier to actually see what’s going on.

I’m really glad that part landed for you.

Untamed Eulogy's avatar

“Something softens." That is exactly it. Pushing always hardens us because we are trying to fight our own flaws. But curiosity doesn't need a weapon or a shield. It just looks and listens.

It is so beautiful how you wrote that. You didn't just explain the shift you made us actually feel that softening on the page. Thank you for giving us permission to stop fighting ourselves. Please keep sharing these .we really need them.

Wisdom Library's avatar

I have tears :) thank you so much for your kind words... It feels so nice reading them because I put so much time, energy and money in creating all this... I am happy that it helps in the exact way I intend it to do.

Untamed Eulogy's avatar

You earned every single one of those tears. When you pour that much of your own time, energy, and resources into something, seeing it land exactly where you intended must feel like a massive exhale♥️

On top of that, I feel a very personal connection to your writing. The way you follow Ayurveda and stay so close to nature is something I deeply admire, because I follow that exact same routine in my own life. It makes everything you share connect with me on a whole different level!!!

Your work genuinely reaches in and makes people feel seen. I'm just so grateful to be on the receiving end of what you create.🫶🏻🫶🏻

Wisdom Library's avatar

You made my day :) Give it a try and listen to the song inside the conversation and let me know what you think. It's saved at the bottom. I am curious what it feels like for you.

Untamed Eulogy's avatar

It is a very beautiful song. Some of the lines actually gave me goosebumps.

I especially loved the ending—the idea that no matter where you go, your own spirit is your true home. You have seen so many seasons in life and you have fought for so long to get here, crossing so many hurdles. But this battle was yours alone, and you won it by yourself.

I feel there is no bigger achievement in life than this. Physical things do not matter as much as the strength you are gaining within your soul. Even when you feel morally down, your soul keeps inspiring you to move forward.

You have shown this so beautifully, and the song is truly wonderful!!

It is always an honor to read your work so deeply.

You hit on the exact reason why we tend to gloss over those whispers in the moment: facing them requires structural changes. It's rarely just an abstract shift in mindset; it usually demands that we reorganize how we spend our time, who we keep in our circle, or how we define our success. It's much easier to pretend we didn't hear the whisper than to dismantle the scaffolding of a comfortable reality.

That distinction between the compass and the scoreboard is everything. The scoreboard is loud, demanding, and entirely focused on external validation, but the compass is quiet, steady, and focused on true alignment. It takes a lot of courage to keep looking at the needle when everyone else is shouting about the score. I must admit that it is in my nature to be influenced by scoreboards and outside pressures. I am up front with a friend like you to help keep me focused on the compass.

Thank you for sharing your words and your journey so openly. Your voice has a beautiful, grounded resonance that hits right at the core of what it means to live authentically. Keep listening to those whispers. 🌿

Wisdom Library's avatar

This is such a thoughtful reflection - thank you for sharing it so openly.

And I really appreciate your honesty about being influenced by the scoreboard. I think most of us are, in some way. It’s loud, it’s visible, and it’s constantly reinforced. The compass takes a different kind of attention… and a bit more courage, like you said.

I like what you said about keeping each other focused on it. That kind of shared awareness matters more than trying to get it “right” on your own.

Thank you for this - it felt very real and grounded 🌿

Jay Allen Ford's avatar

It is always a pleasure when we feel we can be honest with someone and still gently hold them accountable. I hope every one of you can begin to feel that way with me. Thanks Again ~ Jay (Maybe, I should be charging for all the secrets I am giving away.)

Jay Allen Ford's avatar

What a gorgeous, deeply comforting piece of writing. 🌿 The observation that discomfort whispers before it shouts, and that we often ignore the whispers because we're afraid of the structural changes the truth might demand, is spot on. You have a rare gift for making the most private, internal struggles feel universally understood and beautifully legible. Thank you for this quiet reminder to look at the compass rather than the scoreboard

Wisdom Library's avatar

Thank you for putting it into words like this.

That idea of whispers before shouts… I think most of us recognise it only after the fact. In the moment, it’s easier to move past it than to face what it might ask us to change.

And what you said about the “structural changes the truth might demand”… that’s such an honest way of putting it. It’s not just the feeling we avoid, it’s what might come after if we really listen.

I also loved your line about the compass and the scoreboard. That stayed with me.

Thank you for reading it so deeply 🌿

felt as if this was me and my spul...finally talking. I am now working on listening to my body, after ignoring it for 5w years. I so appreciate this piece 💜

Wisdom Library's avatar

That sense of finally hearing yourself… it can be both comforting and a little confronting at the same time.

And five years is a long time to feel disconnected from the body, but there’s something important in the fact that you’re turning toward it now. That first step of listening again changes a lot, even if it’s quiet at the beginning.

I’m really glad the piece met you at this moment 💜

I really loved this, Alexandra. The whole conversation-with-the-soul format worked so well. I honestly have chats with my soul all the time.

I love the line “Have you confused endurance with strength?” Oof. I think so many of us do that without even realizing it. We get used to coping, producing, pushing through, and waiting until something feels wrong before we give ourselves permission to pause.

Such a great reminder that we don’t have to turn self-care into another task or project. Sometimes it really does start with just noticing ourselves a little sooner. 💜

Wisdom Library's avatar

Thank you Andrea 🙏

That line you picked out… “Have you confused endurance with strength?”… It’s such an easy place to slip into without noticing. You just keep going, and it starts to feel normal.

And I smiled at what you said about having conversations with your soul all the time. I think once you start, it’s hard to stop… it just becomes part of how you process things.

I enjoy my soul chats 😆

I also agree with you on the self-care part. The moment it turns into another task, something gets lost. That noticing you mentioned… that’s usually where it begins for me too.

Thank you for sharing this - it felt very real 💜

Framing this as a conversation with your soul was a really creative way of transmitting the information. Great work.

Wisdom Library's avatar

Thank you - I’m really glad it came across that way.

Writing it as a conversation made it feel more real to me too, less like explaining something and more like sitting with it and letting it unfold.

I think that format allows people to recognise their own thoughts in it a bit more easily, rather than just reading it from the outside.

I appreciate you noticing that.

Loved the reflective questions you have added in the end. Every essay of yours has much of your heart and wisdom!

Wisdom Library's avatar

Thank you - that really means a lot.

Those questions at the end are usually the part I sit with the longest while writing. Not to give answers, but to leave a bit of space for someone to pause and look inward in their own way.

I’m really glad they stayed with you.

You asked if some of this resonated. Every single word! I realise that I've always known the reflections you bring have always been true for me. And a reminder that we forget. This needs to be read every single day!. Thank you for sharing.

Wisdom Library's avatar

This really stayed with me.

That feeling of “I’ve always known this”… I’ve had that too. It’s not something new, it’s more like something familiar being brought back into focus.

And you’re right, we forget. Not in a big way, just gradually, through the pace of everyday life. That’s why those reminders matter so much.

I’m really glad it resonated with you like this.

Pelle Martens's avatar

Somewhere halfway through I forgot I was reading someone else's conversation and started hearing my own. I think that's why this works ❤️

Wisdom Library's avatar

I really love how you put that.

That moment where it stops feeling like someone else’s words and starts sounding like your own… I think that’s when something actually lands.

It’s less about understanding it, and more about recognising it.

I’m really glad it met you in that way ❤️

Antonio Castellaneta's avatar

The conversation that matters most is often the one we postpone with ourselves.

Not because we have nothing to say, but because genuine listening asks us to slow down before life forces us to.

Sometimes returning to ourselves is less about becoming someone new than remembering who has been waiting there all along.

Thank you for this beautiful reflection.

Elaine Wright's avatar

Sometimes I think that, unconsciously, we are afraid to listen to ourselves. If only we could be sure there is nothing to be afraid of if we did.

Wisdom Library's avatar

I think there’s great truth in that.

It’s not always that there’s something dramatic waiting there, but there’s often something honest… and honesty can feel uncomfortable when we’ve been moving past it for a while.

I’ve noticed that the fear is usually stronger before you actually stop and listen. Once you do, it’s often quieter than you expected. Not always easy, but not as overwhelming as the mind imagined either.

Maybe it’s less about there being nothing to be afraid of… and more about learning that you can stay with whatever you find there.

And that changes the relationship a bit.

Elaine Wright's avatar

Yes, and I laugh despite myself. The fear is terribly loud until you stop and listen.. into the space of silence, where everything just is.

Wisdom Library's avatar

This is beautifully said.

That idea of postponing the conversation with ourselves… it feels so true, and so easy to recognise once you see it. Not because we don’t know, but because we sense what it might ask from us if we really listen.

And I love how you put that return - not becoming someone new, but remembering what was already there. That’s exactly how it’s felt for me too at times.

Thank you for writing this - it added something very quiet and real to the whole piece.
