I love this and have friends from Mauritius and often included it in one of the many destinations I want to visit “someday”. I’m simultaneously jealous and enamored with the pics and descriptions alone. Look forward to the next? How do you manage to live such a magical existence traveling like that? It mirrors my dream life …
I get that “someday” feeling - Mauritius was that place for me for a long time too, so it felt a bit surreal actually being there.
And honestly, it probably looks more magical from the outside than it feels day to day. Travel has its moments, of course - those quiet ones by the ocean, or just noticing something new - but it’s not constant. There’s still planning, tired days, things not going as expected.
I think what makes it feel different isn’t just the places, it’s letting yourself be fully there when you are. Even small moments start to feel richer.
I really hope you get to go at some point. It’s one of those places that stays with you.
I love what you wrote "I noticed how my body responded. Shoulders dropped. Breathing slowed. My thoughts felt less sharp, less urgent. Even silence felt comfortable." Thank you for sharing that
Awww, this was beautiful, Alexandra. I could feel the softness of this place all the way through your words. And that proposal moment… just perfect. 🥹I especially loved your reflection on slowing down. 💛
Thank you for reading it so closely. I remember that place almost like yesterday.
And that proposal moment… I still can’t quite put it into words without smiling a little. It felt simple, but also like something quietly shifted inside me.
I’m really glad the reflection on slowing down stayed with you. I think I’m still learning how to carry a bit of that pace back into everyday life.
