This relieved my heart! Thank you for naming so many questions, particularly, the theme of meaning and self-worth without “success” in the external world. For our purpose, why does the easy or visible win count more than the people you connected with, with the learning and the journey of desire?
I also was impressed by how successful you used the second person voice to write this!
Thank you… ❤️ I think that’s one of the hardest questions around failure and success - why do we so often measure a life by the visible outcome rather than by everything that happened along the way?
The people we meet, the things we learn, the desires we discover, and even the ways we change through the process can be meaningful in themselves. Sometimes the “win” we were chasing turns out not to be the most important part of the journey at all. I have experienced that myself…
And thank you for noticing the use of the second-person voice! I wanted it to feel less like I was telling someone what to think and more like we were sitting with these questions together. So I’m really glad that came through. ❤️
Alexandra, the moment when someone who's experienced years of setbacks helps a struggling colleague felt especially meaningful. Sometimes we don't even realize how much we've learned until someone else needs us. I'm not sure suffering is something a soul would deliberately choose, but I do believe we can discover something valuable in experiences we would never have wished for.
I really like your perspective Antonio. Sometimes we don’t realise how much we’ve learned through our own setbacks until we find ourselves in a position to support someone else going through something similar. That can make those hard experiences feel meaningful in a completely different way.
I’m with you on the suffering part too. I’m not sure it’s something a soul would deliberately choose, but I do believe we can discover something valuable in experiences we would never have wished for. ❤️
It is in the striving, the struggle that wr learn and grow. We dont learn very much when things go well - its getting knocked flat by the universe that gets us to look at things! It seems to be a part of human nature to learn in adversity, not ease
Yes, I agree with you… adversity can teach us a lot - although I wouldn’t say we have to suffer in order to grow. Sometimes ease can teach us too, but struggle has a way of getting our attention that comfort doesn’t always do. ❤️
