This line hit me deeply: 'That freedom did not demand a decision. It simply made one possible.' You’ve captured the exact magic of a travel 'pause button'—not as an escape, but as the quiet space needed to hear your own truth over the noise. A breathtaking read.
I think that’s exactly how I’ve come to see travel too. It doesn’t solve our problems or make decisions for us. It simply creates enough space for the noise to settle, so we can hear ourselves a little more clearly.
I’m so glad that idea spoke to you. Thank you for reading so thoughtfully and for sharing what stayed with you. It genuinely means a lot. 💛
It truly did. Sometimes clarity arrives not because we force an answer, but because we finally create enough quiet to hear the answer already forming within us. You captured that beautifully. 💛
Loved the essay Alexandra;) I went to Sevilla to attend my friend's 30th birthday last year. I was in a bit of dilemma (i had a master thesis submission) and though distance was only barcelona to Sevilla , i was worked up. I booked my ticket and went ahead anyway. It was the most beautiful time ever, with warm people of Sevilla, my friend's loving family friends and the beauty and quaintness gave me a lifetime of memory.
I smiled when you said you almost didn’t go. It’s amazing how often the trips we hesitate over become the ones we remember most.
Your weekend in Sevilla sounds so special. I went there too several years ago.
Sometimes it’s not just the place itself, but the people, the conversations, and stepping away from our usual routines that give us the perspective we didn’t realise we needed.
I’m really glad you decided to book the ticket. It sounds like it gave you far more than a weekend away, it gave you a memory you’ll carry with you for a long time.
Such a pleasure reading your thoughts! You captured the essence of both places in the most accurate way.
Thank you. I am happy you enjoyed it
